Tennessee Ranks High in Youth Mental Health Resources
Recently, a study of data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the CDC showed that Tennessee ranked as the best state for youth mental health services in the country. The analysis looked at access to mental health care, cost of mental health services, and the mental health needs of young people.
The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) issued a press release regarding the study in connection with Governor Lee proclaiming March 10, 2024 as Tennessee’s Day of Hope.
TDMHSAS works in conjunction with other state agencies, non-profits, and organizations across the state to provide programs and resources to Tennesseans. One such non-profit is The Jason Foundation. The Jason Foundation is dedicated to the awareness and prevention of youth suicide through educational programs that equip youth, parents, educators, and the community with the tools and resources to identify and assist at-risk youth. Many times, a young person will exhibit clear warnings signs prior to an attempt. By knowing the warning signs, and knowing how to help, you could save a life. Visit The Jason Foundation’s website to learn more about youth suicide, see how you can help make a difference, and locate the nearest Jason Foundation Office. The Jason Foundation has never charged a school, community, or individual for the use of their programs or resources. www.jasonfoundation.com
